About Me

My name is Kinyessah Cole, and I would like to introduce myself as your Director.  I have a Child Development Associates certificate (CDA) In Early Childhood Education and have 22 years of experience working in Education. I started in Child Care as a Van Driver and Cook. I moved to the Lead Two Year Old Teacher, and I was promoted to Assistant Director and then Director. I am originally from Petersburg, Virginia and I am a Mommy of three children, Tylisha, age 25 Dashawn, age 22, and Kiara, age 17.  I am a Grandmother to Little Miss Sabina Rawlings, Little Miss Kennedy Collier and Master Jehlani Collier.  I love reading, crafting, sewing, baking and cooking, and I like finding new foods and restaurants to try.  I enjoy spending time with my children, traveling and event planning. My favorite part of the day is when I go in the classrooms and read to the children.  It makes me feel even more special when a child asks me to make sure I come to their room. As a child I always wanted to help people in some way possible. My goal was to become a teacher in the school system, but I saw a greater need to prepare the younger children for school. My main goal for this center is to a be a supporting factor to all of my families, even after they have moved on to other places and adventures! I want to create an environment that nurtures the entire family as well as the individual child. Respectfully, Kinyessah Cole, Director Skipwith Academy at Colonial Heights dir.colonialheights@skipwithacademy.com
