Skipwith Academy’s curriculum is focused on individualized learning objectives for each child that we serve. We say “more than daycare” because we aren’t just watching your child. We provide a variety of options for learning, not only based on the age of the child, but also his or her prior learning, maturity, and academic stage.

Our provides a clear pathway to school readiness. It incorporates developmentally appropriate methods that meet the learning needs of each child in our well-equipped classrooms and playgrounds. Primary care is the core of our infant and toddler program. Language development and literacy skills form the basis of our preschool programs. Readers and writers are developed in our Preschool Readiness Enrichment Program (PREP), and Junior Kindergarten.

Skipwith Montessori

Skipwith Montessori caters to 3-5 year olds to build on their curiosity and confidence as they become familiar with the world around them. The classroom is thought of as a learning laboratory where mixed aged groups of kids interact and teach each other, with the assistance of a trained teacher. The environment is thoughtful and casual to create a natural setting to explore. Children are encouraged to infuse their personality into their education, which is self-initiated and self-directed. They develop skills in building friendships, working well with others, and a foundation in traditional subjects (math, science, culture) through sensory learning.
